I absolutely loved this restaurant! They were so friendly, so sweet and attentive! The birria ramen was the most fantastic food I’ve ever eaten!!! The salsa was the perfect spice level & the horchata was delicious! We live in Kentucky but, definitely a place I would travel hours out of my way to go eat again! 1000000/10! You guys rock! We’re already planning our next trip to include this restaurant.
Delicious!!! Authentic, flavorful, and generous portions, but that's just the beginning. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with a happy and welcoming family atmosphere. I visited from California for the second time and can't wait to be back. Thank you, Pieblo Viejo for the fine experience!
I love the family and staff here! Their business has grown right alongside ours for over a decade. My favorite item on the menu at this time is the Shrimp Diablo (or something like that ) l. Their sauce is HOMEMADE and absolutely delicious! It is savory and not overly hot. The remodeling looks great and service is warm and courteous. Great daily specials too that are useful. I always thought this would be a funny idea... Can a patron clap their hands when they're out of salsa? Kinda an emergency when you have tortillas looking at you and nowhere to go lol I don't know of any Mexican restaurant that does this. I think it would be uniquely fun for what it's worth. Was nervous to try this restaurant based on its 3 star google review, but so glad we gave it a chance. This is hands down the best Mexican food I’ve had in Algood/Cookeville. The staff was friendly and the food tasted fresh and delicious. The regular size margaritas were huge (see photo). I can’t wait to go back and try something else. Pictured is the house special Carnitas plate and the Chicken chimichanga.
I have ONLY had amazing experiences here ! These quesabirria tacos were no different ! They were SO good. BURSTING with flavor, crispy, delicious! I dipped the tacos in queso first and into the consume after and that is the POWER move! They were sooo good! I HIGHLY recommend them! The service was great! This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Cookeville/Algood hands down! If you have not been, GO!

Pueblo Viejo Mexican Restaurant claim they are the best Mexican restaurant & I would have to agree! These were the best quesabirras tacos 14.95 that we’ve had. They were cheesy, crispy & delicious. It wasn’t packed with so much cilantro or onions that I couldn’t enjoy them like some restaurants. As a matter of fact our server put those on the side & I was able to add as much as I wanted. The consomme was spicy but just the right amount of spicy. The tacos were seasoned perfectly! We added a little bit of queso which added a little more spice making it even better.
AMAZING SALSA!!!! Best that I have had in TN. Everything was great and our server was fun and engaging.
